I feel for gina, the pressure of being a JYP trainee is evident in the performance. Shes probably the most polished, but shes so caught up in being perfect that shes forgotten the other 50% of being an idol is to be able to captivate the audience.

26:28 After watching and rewatching Gina's performance here, I think I finally understand what JYP meant. Gina was suppose to demonstrate a girl in love as well as a girl in anger. This should be done during the "so I love you" and then transition into a more angry style during the "so I hate you". Because think about it, it's a song about a girl who fell in love but went through heart break. However, she stayed the same throughout the whole song which didn't captivate the audiance. She needed to become the girl in the song, not just a girl dancing and singing the song. So in the end, as far as the viewers are concerned, the show was not convincing.

It's JYP's basic philosophy. Compete with yourself. Improving your skills is about elevating yourself, not putting others down. This is the characteristic of JYP singers... I used to be a little sceptical about KG at first because I just saw her as a solo artist instead of a possible K-pop girl group member, but after this video I just NEED her to be in this group. After her little vlog segment I was so touched when she cried. Not only is she grateful about the chance she’s been given, but she’s also grateful for having made friends she can share this journey with. A lot of people think she would be amazing as a solo singer and solely based in America, which could be debatable. She definitely needs to improve her dancing and Korean skills, but I truly feel that she needs this group just as much as this group needs her. I truly hope she debuts with this group of girls. They’re all so talented and compliment each other so well.

What is amazing about this show is because they don't rely on fans vote they can record this over a long period of time and have them actually train in between. It is so fun to see their growth since their first audition until now. This is actually such a good pre-debut show cuz I can feel that they are getting more and more ready for a debut. plus, the producer doesn't treat them like competitors so they can be closer to each other and genuinely support each other like they are already a team.

Agree. Fans vote always bring some dissatisfaction from fans, distrust toward the company and harsh judgements to the trainee. With direct judgement from the producer & trainer, at least fans have one common enemy if their favorite trainees couldn't debut, and don't blame anyone else.

cristina never really impressed me before, but the fact that she did such a hard and hectic choreography, AND sang it in korean, AND rapped AND wrote her own rap, AND improved in her singing and sang stably is so impressive. she seems to be a really hard worker and it's great to see her cheer for all the girls. she did great!

@@mrkhoros I'm going to be neutral here, we know in the video Camila said her voice was in bad condition, since Not using a hand mic, they use autotune, that's why you hear the voice is run smoothly on the record, this show is recorded, if we listen to the raw version of the recording, I'm sure we will hear breathing, and some voice instability and obviously we will not hear the sound as clean as in this video.

As a dancer, this is definitely much harder than it looks. Especially if you're used to dancing like that and you're a reserved person, it's very hard and takes a lot of practice

Gina has reservations about showing her emotions, and that's something many of us can relate to. It's not easy to open up and be vulnerable, especially if you've been conditioned to believe that it's a sign of weakness. Breaking her foot as a kid and not crying shows that she's been putting in a tremendous amount of effort into concealing her emotions. Expressing emotions isn't a weakness but a form of courage. It takes strength to show your true self, and I believe she can overcome this with support and self-love.

Also she was a trainee, being one really does take away the emotion of a person because you are judged on your technique/skill above all else. She still in that mindset so I thought JYP would be more understanding that Gina is young and has molded into having that mindset because of being a trainee. He should actively do more to help her lose this mindset as it's not easy to unlearn what you've been trained to learn over 1 year or so. I'm sure before being a trainee she may have not had this mindset.

A2k is great fun for me. There is none of the awkward atmosphere among the contestants that is typical of such programs, and all of them are ambitious and supportive of each other. I would like to see everyone make their debut, but that may not work out so well. But for everyone, Mischa included, this is definitely a great experience.

Yes! Even in the clips from Dream Academy, they don't feel like a group, even in the team missions. It feels like 5 soloists trying to outcompete each other. Lol. The tension was palpable. I was really excited about dream academy but now im just attached to the a2k girls.

Telling the contestants that made it to LA that there was no preset limit to the group size and that they could help each other get better started the building of a real team. Certainly not everyone would go through, but everyone could have gone through if they'd demonstrated the development that JYP and his staff were looking for. In the end, we all got a group that is better than you'd have a right to expect given where each member started.

Honestly Cristina will be great for the groups moral in tough times. And would also do excellent in interviews and variety sections. She really is an asset.

I see lots of people wondering why KG didn't dance. It is probably because JYP planned to let her in the main vocal position. I watched Nizi Project and other survivor shows, and the same applied to trainees in main vocal positions like Nina and Mihii. They were singing while the rest candidates danced. I guess this is part of their trainee system. And the song that KG sang is indeed very hard. JYP wants her to improve her vocals and try different genres.

Can someone explain: will the a2k debutee become a kpop performers with singing and dancing? I feel that KG performed singing with guitar is not challenging herself to prepare herself in kpop world. I impress with her vocals since regional audition, but she needs to catch up with other in dancing. Except JYP producing solo artist like IU or someone else, I don't see the point she showcase her guitar skills. Anyway, I'm not her hater, I just want her become good at dancing too

Although Cristina may not be the best singer in the group, her personality truly shines. I adore how she interacts with her teammates, always reacting positively to their performances. She appears to be having the most fun out of everyone without being too nervous. I stan Cristina and Camilla since day one

​​​​@@YlviPlayzSince they're not NMIXX & BabyMonster, maybe the Production team wanted the vocals of the A2K Contestants to look a little better *on the record*, OR..Since this is a recorded show maybe they did it on purpose to drown out the noise ( for example Breath sounds, mic clapped etc and other random sounds in the room, plus they want it to voices run kinda smoothly, so need help with that just like you wanna hear auto tune or not on MR you hear no other sound except the original voice

I think if for any reason Lexus didn’t make it, there’s gonna be lots of agencies that will be trying to recruit her. Her energy is so positive and her dancing is excellent. I could think of many agencies that she’ll fit it easily.

she has such an amazing voice and honestly i think she will 100% be a star in the future. but at the same time i dont think kpop is her where she will be making it. if we were still in the vocals-dominant era of 2nd gen i could see it happening, but not in the current era where dancing has taken priority. especially in jype which puts the most emphasis on dancing compared to almost any other company. all that said tho, i would absolutely love to be proven wrong and would love to see her excel in a2k as a main vocalist

I never thought that CRISTINA would be this cool , her attitude and personality really surprised me am so glad that this show finally gave her the screentime she deserves

Camila looked so amazing and I love that she added her own choreo to the performance! I can already see her as the leader of the group. She stays so humble and helps everyone despite of her having already secure first place in the LA auditions. It’s such an important trait in being part of a kpop group

cristina hasn't really stood out to me until this episode, she's been improving massively and she might be one of my favorites to make the final group, i'll be cheering her on!

KG reminds me so much of Rosie from Blackpink. KG delivered this song with so much emotion, and her voice stands out so much. I felt like this was more of a concert performance rather than an evaluation. She is such a hard worker, she showed everyone who much she wants this. Waking up at 5am everyday to train, that’s DISCIPLINE and COMMITMENT of how much she wants this!!!

the fact that gina is 13 and has this amount of talent and potential is insane, but i think what JYP means about her not conveying emotions is that she's a bit too robotic with the way she performs, not sure if bc she was a trainee she probably made this kind of a habit? but i really hope she can unleash herself more from now, she definetely deserves to be there!

KG is so beautiful

I really like KG, but sometimes I ask myself if she should continue in this. She has a very different personality from what we expect from a kpop idol. She gives Taylor Swift vibes, not the kpop girlie. I think she should show another side of herself, show improvement in dancing, or challenge herself to sing something in Korean because she's just in her comfort zone right now. We already know she's a very good singer, a good musician and good at songwriting. But we're not sure how much she improved in her dancing or star-quality skills. And we know unfortunately that new idols don't have the creative control they wish, so idk how much it's going to be useful to the group to have a songwriter/musician instead of a performer.

This is exactly what I was thinking she’s good and it’s kind of what I expected from her. I wanted to see her growth in K-pop, and I feel like she is becoming like Melissa in the sense of being viewed as a soloist. I feel like the longer she puts off singing in Korean and dancing the harder it’s going to be to assimilate and learn (assuming it’s been a month already from the last episode). When we seen the Japanese version of the show by this time, all the girls were expected and we’re singing in Korean, even though their native language was Japanese. I also feel like when she sings country, she gets the twang back that JYP was talking about in the beginning of the series.

Well they do need someone that is more american pop on the group. This show is not trying to create another Kpop with American Girls, if that were the case, Gina would be number 1. In kpop they strive for perfection. This is different.

Camila and Cristina is like the monsters of this group. And one thing I definitely have to say they really have a very natural bonding among them.

KG really grew on me this episode. She really proved that she has the hardworking spirit, plus her friendly personality really shown through.

I'm rooting for KG but i think she should have done a kpop song and dance with it. Jyp and we already know that she can sing really well, we need to see her improve in the overal performance (singing/dancing/stage presence) like she did with the group performance. I really wanna see her do something she hasn't shown yet, maybe a girl crush concept or something. I know they only can do jyp songs (it seems like that) so it would be cool to see her do something from sumni or maybe twice.

I totally agree. These were my exact thoughts as well. Most other girls not only danced and sung to Kpop songs but some even learned Korean lyrics which I believe really showed their drive to become not just an artist but a Kpop artist. On the one hand, I can't fault KG for choosing to showcase what she is really good at (and she is really good at singing!). It is good strategically and it guarantees her a stone. But on the other hand, as a Kpop artist, she would not be able to escape dancing and I would really like to see her put more effort into working on and improving her dance skills even if it is a greater challenge.

I hear ya but how jyp says its a "feel out"... this 1st evaluation is kinda like a football spring camp, where they just want to see if youve been working out/staying in shape during the off season months, not necessarily see how you're actually playing ball... I see what you're saying tho it's her dancing thats on the chopping block her vocals are already proven beyond doubt. She's still one of my favs to make the group

Doesn't even need to leave the past behind. She did nothing so wrong that we should have an issue in the first place. We're all have things that could be point out against us. Sometimes it's more justified than others, but still we shouldn't judge people so easily and give them crap for it. I gotta hand it to KG for singing while playing a guitar. That’s such a hard skill to even learn let alone be able to do it perfectly on beat. I’m glad JYP still gave her a stone despite being slightly off rhythm.

I noticed it at the beginning of the song but not the rest so I was surprised to hear him say it was throughout the song. His ear is certainly sharper than mine, but her performance was good so I'm glad she got the stone.

Camila and KG are both so beautiful... I cried so much when KG was practicing and explaining how she loves what she is doing, how blessed she is for being where she is right now, so humble.. Same for Camila, I cried so much during her performance, so much emotions like JYP says. Emotions are truly the most important part of connecting with your audience, I couldn't let go of these two in my mind since I watched this episode. Incredible.

I definitely think Gina deserves better. She's an all-rounder, COME ON!!!!

She wasn't in her head voice or falsetto, it was a full voice there, and it's clear on the replay right after he criticised her. At this point it seems like he needs to point anything in all of her performances. Tbh KG is a wonderful singer, but as far as character she has never really stood out to me until this episode. I feel like her vlogs from her practice showed a very needed vulnerable side of her. The amount of love that she has for the other girls, for singing, and for the opportunity she has been given is so beautiful to witness + has made me appreciate her a little more

From what they said/showed, half of the contestants seem to never have had close friends before. I guess that could be the main reason some of them can't express themselves freely and connect with the other girls well. I'm glad they could open up more now compared to before

@@DanahSul i agree.... introverts struggle with close friendships in school setting because they don't really conform to the default settings or rather the status quo (unless ur the special few who have outside interests and manage to find their tribe early)....we tend to find out people after school so these girls have a very specific interest and would rather spend their time on them than possibly doing random teenage things~~ i am glad they found ppl of like interest to be friends with~~
